TV Talk Podcast with GMMR and Ducky: 12/17/09

December 16, 2009 – 11:39 pm

Another month, another sickness induced hiatus and not one but two surgeries later, GMMR and Ducky are back with a new TV Talk Podcast!

Your favorite carcasters are back to talk about all of the TV we’ve soaked in from our hospital and sick beds.

We kick off the podcast with the Season 6 finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Then we move on to the fall finales of GLEE and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

We sink our teeth into some TRUE BLOOD casting news then tackle the return of faves CHUCK and LOST.

MODERN FAMILY and THE OFFICE were Christmas fantastic, as were 30 ROCK and the increasingly brilliant PARKS & RECREATION.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and THE BIG BANG THEORY are always worth a good conversation as is the debate over THE GOOD WIFE.

What else is on tap? How about MERCY, IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, THE SING-OFF, SAY YES TO THE DRESS, HAPPILY EVER FASTER and LAUNCH MY LINE.

Did the right people win TOP CHEF and PROJECT RUNWAY? Who’s real pretty to look at and what’s our new TV Talk Podcast tagline?

Thanks for being so patient with our crazy illnesses and busy schedules. We wish we could podcast more regularly than we do and we think it’s amazing so many folks care about what we have to say regarding all things TV! You guys are the best.

Sit back, listen and leave us lots of comments about our newest chat-fest!

  2. Dan, you’re a rock star. I can’t believe you already have this live.

Hey all, feel free to share the podcast on Twitter to your favorite TV show fan base. Hashtags are great! (Ex: #trueblood, #vampirediaries, #theoffice, #glee and more…)

  3. Great to have the two of you back casting again.

I do not even watch 90% of the shows you cover but love listening to the two of you. Such a great team.

Good health to both of you and a Happy Holiday Season to you and your families!

    Cheers!

  4. I’ve missed you so much!! I’m listening right NOW!

By strunkette on Dec 17, 2009

  5. I’m nothing if not a rule-follower, so here’s the answer to your question. I listen to your podcast at work. It makes my menial tasks soooo much easier to stomach!

I love that you guys love each other and love TV. Those two things are why I keep listening, even when you talk about vampire shows that I have never and probably (sorry!) will never watch. :)

Cannot WAIT until Chuck comes back – and I know I’ll love hearing all your insider info and expert insight!

I can’t remember – have you talked about Community this fall? I know it’s gotten mixed reviews, but for some reason, that show makes me laugh out loud every week!

I was a little bummed you didn’t talk about the fall finale of White Collar – or whether or not you’ll be watching the USA trifecta in January (Psych, Burn Notice and White Collar). Maybe you’ll talk about all that in another podcast?

All right, back to my menial tasks. Thanks for the fun hour! :)

  6. Great podcast. I missed hearing your voices. Dan, I loved the reference to the Cleveland episode of 30 Rock… I am going to watch it soon. :D

By Jenn on Dec 17, 2009

  7. First time listener! I think I’m about to become a regular (thanks!)

I’m looking forward to the Chuck-centric podcast and interviews.

PS Sorry to hear about your back. Speedy recovery to you!

  8. So glad to hear the two of you are back to podcasting. Great show. I just wanted to put my two cents in.
I’m not crazy about 30 Rock. It’s always been hit or miss for me but this season is more miss than hit.
HIMYM was hysterical to me this week. I can so relate to the on-again-off-again smoking. As for who the mother is, I could care less. Can’t wait to see the 100th episode. I keep asking @alydenisof on twitter if she’s going to be singing.:)
I agree with the above post about the shows of USA. That network has got it going on.
I have recently started watching Fringe after dropping out in the middle of the pilot when it aired. I’m loving it. John Noble is da bomb.
FNL is excellent this year just as all the previous seasons (sans Landry and Tyra’s accident). Can’t wait until everyone else gets to see it next spring.
I’m looking forward to watching Justified and Human Target next month.
I’m going to give Chuck another try. It should be right up my alley. For some reason it doesn’t do anything for me. I hear Syfy is going to run a marathon right before it premieres. Maybe I can catch the fever.
As for where I listen: I listened in the car from school, in Walmart, on the way home and as I put up my groceries.
Love you guys. Take care. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

By Stephanie on Dec 17, 2009

  9. I was hoping for more The Vampire Diaries talk…

By Jo on Dec 17, 2009

  10. Hi Kath and Dan:
Thanks for the podcast. I’m glad health permitted the podcast. Big Fan of Chuck and glad to hear that Chuck is getting some love over hear.

I usually listen to the podcast at work and that makes my day go by a little better and faster.

I wish you would have talked about the Dexter season ending it was so good. I know Dan follows Dexter and Kath, I wish you would watch.

You wanted thoughts on 30 Rock it’s been good but what is missing I think this year is that Kenneth and Tracy Morgan role on the show has gotten smaller and Liz and Jack storyline is a little too big but I still think it is funny television.

Kath, I wanted to thank you for turning me on to Better Off Ted. I watched the pilot last year and wasn’t a fan after watching the whole season I really love it Lem and Phil are my favorite parts on the show and Andrea Andres is so cute.

Thanks and Well wishes for the new year

By Andrew on Dec 17, 2009

  11. Yeah, you guys are back! Thanks for another fantastic carcast, I wish you two happpy holidays and a great new year.

I have to agree with oldarth. It doesn’t even matter if I watch the show you guys are talking about. You guys are just funny and you feel that you like to talk about TV in general. I have all your episodes on my ipod so that I can listen to it whenever I want, eg. at work, on the bus etc.

By cassi on Dec 17, 2009

  12. I love your guys’ podcast!
I’m just catching up with the Vampire Diaries with the marathon this week, so i had to skip over your talk about that. But I always love listening to your banter, even when its about nothing. You’ve always got me laughing. I’m really looking forward to your Chuck podcast (is it going to be part of TvTalk or its own podcast?).
I was sad you didn’t mention Scrubs. Have you both decided that the new version is not worth watching? I’m still deciding.
It would be awesome if you could get someone form Glee on your podcast! :)

As for your question on where I listen: pretty much whenever I need to keep my ears occupied – driving, running, grocery shopping, etc…
I can’t wait for you next podcast.

By Melissa on Dec 18, 2009

  13. I love that there are so many comments already! Thanks everyone.

By Ducky on Dec 18, 2009

  14. Glad you guys are back and doing well! I’ve had nothing to listen to at work lately.

I love Say Yes to the Dress! It drives my boyfriend crazy.

By Katelyn on Dec 18, 2009

  15. I love you podcast! I’m so glad you guys are back! I listen to it on the way to school. I’m looking forward to the Chuck podcast, I LOVE Chuck!! I also wish you would’ve talked about White Collar, Scrubs, and Better Off Ted. About a month ago I started watching the Big Bang Theory and I’m all caught up and I love it, its genius! Another show I started watching is FNL and I’ve finished the first season and, once again, I LOVE it!

One more thing, I watched Mercy, but I stopped after awhile and I’m thinking of picking it up again.

    Seriously, you’re podcast it great!!

By Alison on Dec 18, 2009

  16. Guys, love the podcast, but I have one major complain: How could you forget SUPERNATURAL?? Jo and Ellen’s deaths were only the saddest, most horrible thing ever on the show!

Can’t wait for the Chuck podcast! =)

By Mia on Dec 19, 2009

  17. Yay! just got done listening to the podcast and as always, amazing! i’ve missed this podcast so much so its great to see that a new one is downloading :) I gotta agree that I’m in love with parks and rec this season, it has been improving SO much! Also gotta agree with modern family, the xmas episode was soooo good, every character had something that was important and I love the revelation at the end of what happened to the couch had nothing to do with any of the kids. Looking forward to your Chuck podcast, can’t wait for that show to come back already!

By Maria on Dec 19, 2009

  18. So glad to have you guys back! Love hearing about Glee and Big Bang Theory. I even love hearing about the shows I don’t watch because you guys are so hysterical. I have to say, though, I’ve given Modern Family two tries and I just don’t find it funny. I do like the gay couple (Jesse Tyler Ferguson can do no wrong) but everything else just seems too silly.

I CAN’T WAIT for Chuck to come back and I’m so excited for your Chuck podcast.

Hope you two stay injury free and can’t wait for the next podcast!

By Sus on Dec 19, 2009

  19. I forgot to mention where I am when I listen to the podcast! I have to listen at home on my computer because if I listen to podcasts while doing anything else, I become way too distracted and miss half of what’s going on. I can’t listen to audiobooks, either. I have to just sit and focus on the voices.

Once again, love the podcast and can’t wait for the next one!

By Sus on Dec 20, 2009

  20. Hey there! Love the podcast so much! Great energy, chemistry and alot of good discussion! I’m also a SYTYCD freak, and definitely hated to have to choose between it and Biggest Loser this year. Loser won out b/c I could catch the performances online. It definitely needs to stay a Summer spotlight. I absolutely loved the Big Bang and Office episodes as well!
As for where I listen, mostly on the road to and from work and at work before the doors open. It makes the time pass by so much quicker! Thanks again ^^

By Ste on Dec 20, 2009

  21. I honestly don’t care what shows you talk about because it’s always funny! I am not a big sitcomer but you got me to check out BBT and I love it. I have tried a couple of times to watch 30 Rock but it might as well be Two Men for me.

I am all caught up on Vampire Diaries and not can’t wait for the show to come back so I can know what you guys are talking about! I might have to go back and listen to old True Blood podcasts when S2 comes out on DVD. Yeah.

Very excited about Chuck coming back. Do either of you watch the USA shows? I know what Dan means about it being repeated all week long but White Collar? So Good.

I agree with Mai? Where’s the Supernatural love? Kath, you went to all the trouble to catch up but are you staying caught up now?

I usually listen to the podcast at work. I actually listed for a second time today driving out to the country to meet the family for breakfast. It’s still funny the 2nd time around!

Get well soon guys! Will there be Olympics car casting?

By Patty on Dec 20, 2009

  22. Thanks for all the comments gang. I know we missed some important shows that we totally should have been talking about. We didn’t have time to prepare for this podcast because we didn’t know if we were seeing each other until a couple hours before it happened and at that point Kath didn’t think she could last long enough to podcast. Her back surgery was intense and this was one of her first long term outings so we didn’t know how long we had if at all. Wait, that sounded like she was dying… I’ll go with it.

We didn’t talk about Supernatural, White Collar, Dexter or Better Off Ted because Kath could have died at any moment… yeah, that’s it!

By Ducky on Dec 21, 2009

  23. I could have died….and you people wanted to talk about Better Off Ted?! How dare you!

Aw, kidding of course. We’ll be sure to cover some of these shows next time around.

For all of you wondering, I am ABSOLUTELY still watching Supernatural. One of the best parts of this year was getting caught up on the series.

By Kath on Dec 22, 2009

  24. Yes SuperNatural has been awesome this year.

The Dexter finale was to die for!

Happy Holidays to everyone and their family and loved ones!

By OldDarth on Dec 22, 2009

  25. Kath, glad you are feeling better. Please don’t let Dan kill you. I love your podcasts and miss it when I don’t have 2 a week to listen to! I am not sure I could go back to work after three months. Good luck this year you two!
