This week we recorded the AVATAR of TV Talk Podcasts. No, there aren’t any blue people, no fancy 3D special effects and don’t worry, Ducky did not grow his hair out to an inappropriate length for a man of that age… what we mean is that we recorded over two and a half hours of our nails on the chalkboard voices for your listening torture pleasure. Instead of making you sit through that much TV talk at once, we split the podcast into two!

Shows covered in this podcast:
CHUCK, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE BIG BANG THEORY, GREEK, DAMAGES, LIFE UNEXPECTED, THE BIGGEST LOSER, WHITE COLLAR, AMERICAN IDOL, MODERN FAMILY, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, PROJECT RUNWAY, MODELS OF THE RUNWAY, CAPRICA, DOLLHOUSE, BROTHERS & SISTERS

*Recorded: 2/3/10

To listen to TV Talk Podcast (with Chapter Markers) head on over to our iTunes page and subscribe! It’s the fastest and easiest way to listen to The TV Talk Podcast from week to week.

Because we talked so long about all the shows listed above, we decided to split the podcast in two and make the return of listener fave 2 IDIOTS TALK LOST it’s own podcast this week (click here to listen)!

  2. Re Chuck - final scene - Sarah repeats the line that Chuck used at the beginning about being a handler- piece of cake. Which does not turn out to be true for either of them.

  3. Dan - You are so mean…”Dollhouse” HA HA!

  5. Chuck:That guy on the phone was Graham, Sarah’s boss. He died last season. Sarah never burned Chuck t was what Sarah was suppose to do, but never got to it. She fell in love with him. The Sarah flashback seen was just a full circle type thing showing us that she was ordered to do the same thing to Chuck.

  6. To that thing about Jeremy on “The Vampire Diaries” and adoption, yeah, I dated someone who was adopted because parents could have children and then a few years after adopting had a son. Also the family that lived around the corner from me growing up had that happen too. The parents got married and couldn’t get pregnant for years and then waited for years finally get an adopted baby. But oddly enough, right in-between the adoption finalizing and the baby coming home with them, the wife got pregnant. They decided to go through with the adoption and so their eldest was only a few months older then their next child. She then got pregnant three more times after that.

  7. But what’s also kind a weird is while Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and Paul Wesley (Stefan) don’t look like siblings nor do Kayla Ewell (Vicki) and Zach Roerig (Matt) look like siblings, I actually thought Nina Dobrev (Elena) and Steven McQueen (Jeremy) actually could pass as real life siblings and turns out their characters are not suppose to have same biological parents.

  8. Quick comments on the other shows I watch that you covered:

But first up - thank god you washed your hands Dukky! ;)

TBBT - still funny but Leonard has been useless since hooking up with Penny. Prefer to see Sheldon and Penny as a couple.

White Collar - is a blast. Still a little light in content but the two leads are great.

SuperNatural - mixed bag. Way too many stand alone episodes. Mind you they are good, but when the Apocalypse is your main story arc it deserves far more attention that it has been given. PS - real disappointed with this week’s episode - RESET button episodes are LAME!

Caprica - has been very good to date with 1 glaring error in my mind at the end of the second episode ie Lady Graystone - keep expecting Tarzan to show up :) - going up to the mic and blabbing about her daughter right after she found out about the suspected terrorism link. WTF?

Dollhouse - ran strongly during this last season - until the last 2 episodes and then the wheels came off. Most disappointing. Eliza Deshku just do not have the acting range to pull off all the different roles she needed to play.

Fringe - I know you don’t cover this one but OMG the last shot when Olivia saw the glimmer over Peter! Wow! And now the next episode is not until April! FOX stinks!

I want to give KUDOS to Chuck for being the best show at moving the story forward this season. Not one moment of padding unlike SuperNatural and Fringe which have been mostly stand alones.

  9. I disagree with your analysis of the last scene of Chuck. First of all, I agree with “al” about the voice on the phone.
But I think the point of that last scene (as well as what the exchange “He’s becoming a spy. That’s a good thing.” “Is it?”) was to show us how things have changed.
Sarah has become a lot softer since the beginning, and Chuck has become tougher and is starting to lose some of his humanity. But rather than these two meeting in the middle, they seem to be passing each other.

And Manoosh didn’t necessarily create an Intersect. The only thing the glasses could do was give martial arts powers. The glasses didn’t contain the spy secrets that the Intersect does. Also, they were reverse-engineered from remains of the Intersect that was destroyed, so I don’t think that they’ve opened the floodgates for anyone to create their own Intersect.

  10. Damages is soooo good it’s ridiculous or should I say ridonkulous. Back to the brilliance of Season One. Patty still up to her own tricks. Like Ellen says “Patty always has a reason.” Ellen and Patty actually meet towards the end of episode one. And have another encounter in episode three.

What’s up with this new guy that’s hitting on Patty? And at the end of episode two Ellen and Tom “have a thing going on” according to the homeless man.

  11. Hi Kath and Dan:
You ask fans why they want to spend their time listening to you guys. Here are my reasons one is that it’s great finding like minded people who are passionate about something. The fact that the topic is TV is fantastic. It’s comforting knowing that there are people who are as obsessed as I am about TV. I must say TV as the generations have gone along has become more compelling and gripping then ever before. Could you have imagined a show like Lost on in the 60’s? The second reason I listen is that both of you are the type of people I would love to sit and have a coffee with and discuss TV with. I think people look down at other people who watch the amount of TV I do.
I do have one request. I would like the origin story of how you guys came to be friends. I only been checking you guys out for the last few months.
I wish you guys love Fringe and their was no talk of Bones in this podcast maybe next time.
Your so right about cable shows. They need to be on in the summer. Make it or Break it is on the backburner for me and cable shows are so good in the summer like Royal Pains or Eureka or In Plain Sight or Weeds.
    Have a week,
    Andrew

  12. Aw, Andrew - how sweet are you?! Thanks for that.

As for how Dan and I became friends. Well, although we lived about 5-6 minutes from each other at the time, we first met in San Diego. Dan and I were invited to spend the day on the set of VERONICA MARS. We met at the hotel in the morning and by the time we got in the limo to go over to the set we were already BFF. Lucky for us, we lived very close to each other in the Boston area and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Not sure what I’d do without my Ducky!

  13. I thought that joke on HIMYM was ofensive. Stupid privileged white doucebags with white friends only, making fun of an asian girl just for having a name. I was not amused.

By maya on Feb 8, 2010

  14. And they live in NYC! How do they only have white friends unless it’s a choice? At least on BBT they have an indian and a jew.

    Okay, i’m done venting now.

By maya on Feb 8, 2010

  15. Aw I wish you guys had watched the SPN episode that was sent to you, because IT WAS SO GOOD and it broke my heart and I wish you had talked about it. I agree it’s time to focus more on the apocalypse now.
Also, I guess you guys weren’t at the 100th episode party. Did you get an invite though?

By Karla on Feb 9, 2010

  16. Karla - Great episode! But even if we had watched it the day before it aired, we really wouldn’t have been able to talk about it much. We don’t like to spoil on the podcast.

The party was in Vancouver, we are in Boston. Couldn’t go. (Kind of like when I couldn’t go to Harvard because they didn’t give me enough financial aid) HA!

By Kath on Feb 9, 2010

  17. Oh, yeah, you’re right about the spoilers, i’m really glad I wasn’t spoiled for it.

Oh gotcha! I didn’t even think about the different country thing! LOL
