TV Talk Podcast: Two Idiots Talk LOST - “What Kate Does” & “The Substitute”
February 18, 2010 – 5:34 am
The snowpocalypse stopped us from podcasting last week but don’t worry, that just means this week you get double the idiot!
TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST returns to discuss “What Kate Does” and “The Substitute”.
Along the way we’ll botch every theory and we’ll make up new character names. We’ll try to figure out how the sideways reality differs from the flashbacks and why the hell Ethan’s still Mr. McCreeperson even off the island.
If LOST is a fieldtrip, we’re two blind people leading a pack of school children into rush hour traffic. We don’t know what the hell we’re talking about but that’s the fun of it. Enjoy the newest episode of TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST.
*Recorded: 2/17/10

Fiona Faraday FTW
By Kyle on Feb 18, 2010
We got an explanation of why the Oceanic 6 was called to the island by the MIB - but was he telling the truth?
Could the new custodians of the island turn out to be Jack and Sawyer or LOL - Hurley and Ben in the end?
Loved the scenes with Locke and Hurley, Rose, and Ben.
By OldDarth on Feb 18, 2010
Is it possible Hurley’s numbers from the sideways universe correspond to another list of candidates? Or maybe a list of anti-canidates?

OMG, Fiona Faraday!!!! You guys are awesome!!! LOL!!
By Amanda on Feb 18, 2010
Long Live FIONA FARADAY!
By Ducky on Feb 18, 2010
Seriously, there’s no reason to listen to the entire podcast, just skip to the 28 minute mark. I have tears streaming down my face. One of our most “idiot” moments yet!
By Ducky on Feb 18, 2010
Fiona Faraday!!! Classic! LOL!!
I think I’m one of those hybrids who enjoys the abc podcast, Jeff Jenson’s reviews on EW, and your discussion. I guess I’m a crazy? (btw, found you back when you chatted about SYTYCD S4)
You were right about Locke & Helen meeting over Locke’s issues but it wasn’t a “paralyzation session”–LOL!!! Locke & Helen were in group therapy for anger management when they met in the flashbacks. Locke’s Dad stole his kidney and was still walking at that point.
Oh! Didja see? In the cave with all the names, Claire’s last name “Littleton” was crossed out, with the # 313 preceding it (told you I was a crazy). Do you think her name was crossed out because she was ‘claimed’ as Dogan told Jack? Dun. dun. dun……
And wtf does ‘claimed’ mean anyway??
Cheers! Look forward to your next podcast.

I don’t even watch Lost (shut up I know) and I love listening to you guys!
You are getting me so excited for my Lost watch summer 2010 with a friend. We decided last year to wait and watch it all in a row. It’s alot to digest but I think I will enjoy it more.
Keep it up you guys!

LOL Love how Fiona just came to Ducky without even thinking and then it was the wrong name! XD Keep up the idiot Lost talk, it’s so entertaining! Though I gotta say, I want a podcast with other shows discussions! Did you record that too? Modern Family, Vampie Diaries, Chuck… I wanna know what you’re thinking!
By Karla on Feb 18, 2010
@Karla - Check back tomorrow. We did record another podcast, and covered all the shows you mentioned and more.

Yay! =D

Jack already knew that Claire was his sister in Season 4 when her mother came to his dad’s funeral.
By JasTay on Feb 18, 2010
The thing that makes me laugh every time is how Kath thought Ducky was a genius for coming up with Fiona Faraday–and I feel embarrassed that I even believed it for a few minutes. And then the turn into Finola Hughes (aka Anna Devain)–GENIUS!

For the record, I do consider myself a diehard, I listen to a bunch of those Lost podcasts you mentioned, and I analyze the shit out of the show, but I still love hearing you guys talk about it. When you said Fiona Faraday, I was like, “Oh my God, really?” but I was cracking up, not frustrated. Sometimes it’s fun to listen to people talking about the show just for fun, not so seriously (although for the record, I feel like you guys do sometimes have some seriously good insights). One point, though: I believe you said something like “last week Jack found out he has a sister”? He actually found that out when Claire’s mom told him at Christian’s funeral. Last week he just found out that his sister has turned into a dark-hearted Rousseau-ish psycho.
Also, I didn’t get around to commenting after your last one, but you were questioning who the annoying nerd guy on the plane between Locke and Boone was: it was Neil/Frogurt who had the awesome death by flaming arrows!
By Jules on Feb 19, 2010
Loved it this week, and Fiona Faraday FTW! I did not remember either that Jack already new Claire was his sister from the funeral and i see that you didn’t remember either.

Hey guys! I have listened to your other podcast for a couple of months now, and as a “Lostie” I am glad you have added this. I love your banter, and it works well when discussing this show. One point, the word you were looking for is “paralysis”. Paralisization almost had me laughing as much as Fiona Faraday! I also read Doc Jensen’s column I do appreciate his real-world insights (Like for this episode, referencing Plato’s allegory of the cave) or when he notices what book is featured (there is always a book) and how it might relate. Still, chaque un ses gouts, eh what? (to each his own taste). There are different levels of appreciation. My theory: I think that things changed for everyone in the alt universe when Juliette hit jughead. Since that was in the 70’s, their lives have had a different track since then. Also, did you note that in each alt uni episode so far, the character of that arc has had a moment with the mirror (so far Jack, Kate and Locke). I wonder if the same will hold true next week. Through the looking glass much? Anyway, thanks again for a most enjoyable time spent listening.

One more note, I don’t think smokey (aka Fake Locke aka Flocke) is the same as the MIB. Presumably, It was smokey who took upon the shape of Ben’s dead mother in season 4(?) and told him to wait. Whereas MIB would have had him come out or undo the sonic barrier. Who knows? I also don’t understand how Richard (Ricardus) seemed so knowledgable earlier in the series and now seems so clueless and helpless. There is clearly much to be revealed.
By Xopher on Feb 20, 2010
Okay, I’m obsessed. I don’t think Widmore is associated with MIB. He was, after all, leader of the others at one time with, erm, Fiona. So he was working for Jacob. One other thing. There are obviously three “entities” on the island. Probably some form of Jacob, MIB, and smokey (unholy spirit?). Jacob and MIB probably captured smokey to be the security system (as mentioned by Russeau) and he has (or thinks he has) found a way out?

Fiona Faraday nearly made me drive off the road from laughing so hard!
By Jess on Feb 21, 2010
OK, is there an award for funniest Podcast moment? Because Fiona Faraday would win hands down! Was driving down the street laughing out loud, in my car, by myself… Thanks for the podcasts. I love it when I see new GMMR & Ducky being synced onto my iPod!
By Betsy on Feb 22, 2010
Long Live Fiona Faraday! Seriously, more people were “Lizzing” than ever.

What’s the over/under on the next podcast?
By JasTay on Mar 6, 2010
Hey guys -
We are trying to figure out when we’re going to be able to get together for the next podcast. As long time listeners know, Dan helps run the Independent Film Festival of Boston, an amazing, very highly regarded annual film festival. He’s been understandably quite busy working every night until the wee hours of the morning.
I promise you that Dan and I talk on a DAILY basis about when we can get together for the next podcast. We are as anxious as you. We’ve even batted around the idea of using Skype if we can’t physically get together.
I’m hoping that we can pull it off sometime this week. Maybe Wednesday night so we can talk LOST.
Sorry for the delay. We’re trying…believe me.
By Kath on Mar 7, 2010
It’s ok Kath. Well, really it’s not, but I don’t want you to have a complex or anything.
It’s you guys fault that your listeners are like this! We love you guys too much!
By Chitown mimi on Mar 9, 2010
